Upcoming Sony Ericsson ‘Kiki’ With Transparent Display


Sony Ericsson’s upcoming “Kiki” has been unveiled. The phone features a unique transparent glasslike display that allows images projected on it can be viewed from both sides of the handset. The cell phone also has a smooth surface keypad on the front, where the numbers should appear only when the phone is turned on. There is no further info about this handset. We will keep you posted.

Samsung Haptic AMOLED Mobile Phone in South Korea


Samsung has introduced a new 3G full touchscreen mobile phone in South Korea, which is dubbed as the Haptic AMOLED. The handset provides high resolution WVGA 800×480 pixel resolution on its 3.5 inch AMOLED display. The AMOLED display also has 180-degree viewing angle, and can reduce power consumption by up to 66%. The phone also supports high-quality video formats such as H.264, MPEG4, and AC-3. Other features include “One-finger Zoom” function, T-DMB, a 5MP camera, Bluetooth, and navigation support. The Haptic AMOLED phone will be available via Korea’s SK Telecom, KT and LG Telecom for about $700.

Philips Xenium X630, Another Phone With Impressive Battery Lifetime


Philips has added a new member to its Xenium series with the introduction of Philips X630. This new candybar phone offers a 2.4-inch QVGA display with 262k colors, a 3.2MP camera, a music player, an FM radio, a microSDHC card slot (up to 8GB), Bluetooth with A2DP and an impressive battery lifetime that lasts up to 12 hours in talk-time, or up to 50 days in stand-by time. Pricing and availability are still unknown at the moment.

Samsung Today Releases Four New Handsets


Samsung has released not one but four new handsets from its mid-range phones series, which is dubbed as the Samsung S6700, C5510, M2510 and M2310. The M2310 comes with only a poor VGA camera and the M2510 features a 1.3MP camera. Both of these handsets have dedicated music controls. The Samsung C5510 is a dual band 3G handset that comes equipped with a 2MP camera with fixed focus, and a 16GB of storage capacity. The Samsung S6700 is a slider with HSDPA, GPS, a 3MP camera with auto-focus and dual LED flash, and 120MB of storage space. No word on pricing so far.

GeeksPhone Launches The One Android Phone


If you happen to live in Spain and planning on buying a new Android phone, then I have a good news for you, cause pretty soon GeeksPhone will launch their first Android phone for the Spanish market. Dubbed as the One, this new smartphone is equipped with a 625MHz PXA310 processor, a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a front-facing camera, a microSD card slot, AGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, Android 1.5 Cupcake OS and supports quad-band EDGE/HSDPA connectivity. The One will be available in Spain this summer unlocked for anywhere between $352 to $422.

Nokia N97 Coming To 3 UK With Free Skype Calling


The Nokia N97 will soon make its way to 3 UK before the end of this month (June). Unlike most carriers, 3 UK is offering you free Skype-to Skype calls across most of its range. The phone itself will be sold for £319.99 (€375 or $527) on pay as you go, or with a contract agreement for at least £35 a month. You’ll be able to pre-order it starting today via 3’s official website.

Sony Ericsson Launches T715 Slider Phone


The T715 is the latest slider phone from Sony Ericsson that comes in two different versions namely the Sony Ericsson T715 (with quad-band GSM and 2100 HSPA), and Sony Ericsson T715a (with quad-band GSM and 850/1900/2100 HSPA). This mid-end handset is equipped with a 2.2-inch QVGA display with 256K colors, a 3.2MP camera with Photo light, a new UI feature, a music player, a Stereo FM radio with RDS, Google Maps, a 90MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP. Sony Ericsson T715 and T715a will be available starting the third quarter of 2009, in two color versions: Galaxy Silver and Rouge Pink for unannounced price yet.

Samsung Galaxy Available Via O2 Germany


O2 online shop has launched the Samsung i7500 Galaxy, which is claimed to be the highest-end Android device in the market today. The smartphone supports for 7.2Mbps HSDPA, an 8GB of internal storage, and a 3.2-inch AMOLED display. The Galaxy is priced at 69,99 Euro or approx. $98.

HTC Hero Now Official


HTC has officially unveiled their third Android smartphone in the form of the HTC Hero. This new smartphone is packed with a 3.2-inch fingerprint-resistant touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixels, a 5MP camera with autofocus, HTC’s latest Sense UI, an accelerometer sensor, Android 1.5 OS, Google Maps, Google Streetview and various other Google apps / services, GPS, WiFi, a microSDHC card slot, a 3.5mm headset jack and supports GSM as well as HSDPA connectivity. The HTC Hero will be available In Europe starting early July via Orange UK for unannounced price yet.

Motorola Karma QA1 To Hit AT&T On June 28


AT&T is set to launch another quick messaging phone from Motorola namely the Motorola Karma QA1 on June 28. This oval shaped phone is targeted especially at teenagers and young adults, and comes with interesting features like a 2.5-inch QVGA display, a 2MP camera with flash and video recording, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, threaded messaging, a homescreen with one-click-access icons for Facebook and MySpace, 3G, GPS, a 100MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, stereo Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headset jack and supports dual band GSM connectivity (850/1900 MHz). AT&T will sell the Karma for as low as $79.99 with a 2-year contract agreement and choose a plan of at least $60 per month.

Toshiba T01A Smartphone Now Available In Japan


Toshiba TG01 smartphone now finally available in Japan in the form of the T-01A (a rebranded version). This 9.9mm thick handset is equipped with a 4.1-inch WVGA resistive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 resolution, a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor, HSDPA, GPS, WiFi and runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. Pricing is still unknown at the moment.

myTouch 3G Coming To T-Mobile In August


The highly anticipated myTouch 3G (aka HTC Magic) will soon make its way to T-Mobile USA starting in early August. This Android-powered handset sports a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display, a 3.2MP autofocus camera with YouTube and Picasa uploading support, a microSD card slot with included 4GB microSD card, GPS, WiFi, Microsoft Exchange support and supports quad-band EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA (1700MHz/2100MHz) connectivity. You’ll be able to pre-order it starting on July 8th for a retail price of $199 with a 2-year contract agreement.

LG Suit at World IT Show 2009


LG Electronics has recently unveiled the LG-SV710 a.k.a. Suit during World IT Show 2009 in South Korea. Measuring 14.7mm-thick, this premium clamshell phone is specially designed for businessmen and comes with a high-gloss blue body, a 3MP shooter with video recording, and five new mobile games. The price ranges from 400,000 Won ($313) and 500,000 Won ($391).

Nokia N97 And N86 8MP Released In The UK


The highly anticipated Nokia N97 and N86 are now available in the UK. The N97 is going to be exclusively on sale through Nokia stores for one week and from June 26 it will be available through many retailers and carriers including Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, 3 Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U. For £499 (€589 or $820) you’ll be able to get your hands on the unlocked version of Nokia N97, while the unlocked N86 8MP can be bought for £399 (€470 or $656).

Samsung S5600 Available On Orange


The highly anticipated Samsung S5600 (aka Preston) is now available for purchase in the UK via Orange. You’ll be able to get your hands on this mid-range touchscreen handset for £159.50 ($258) on pay as you go, or for free if you sign a 24-month contract agreement (a monthly plan of at least £20 is required). In case you’ve forgotten, the S5600 offers a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display with 240 x 320 resolution, a 3.2MP camera with video recording at 15fps, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, an FM radio, an accelerometer sensor, an 80MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1 and supports HSDPA connectivity.

LG's Music Player Phone


Here's LG's latest music player (Walkman) phone the LG-GM310, LG-GM210, and LG-GM205 (name depends on the mobile operator)… Besides the classic 2Mpix camera module, it features 4GB internal memory, USB 2.0 storage support, a 2.1 stereo speaker (with subwoofer), high-end LG sound engine, and Dolby Mobile engine.

National Geographic Releases Dual SIM Duet Travel Phone

National Geographic and Cellular Abroad have collaborated to launch a new dual SIM handset which is dubbed as the National Geographic Duet Travel Phone (model name D888). The handset features a National Geographic pay-as-you-go SIM card that allows you make affordable calls from no less than 185 countries, and receive free calls in over 80 countries. The phone also supports a secondary SIM card of your choice. Sadly, this Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) phone lacks of 3G support. Other features include a 2.8-inch QVGA display, a mobile TV, Bluetooth, an FM radio, a VGA camera with video recording, a 1GB MicroSD card, and a pre-loaded National Geographic content (ringtones, videos, wallpapers). The National Geographic Duet Travel Phone is now available at Cellular Abroad, Amazon, Expansys USA and various other retailers for around $199.

LG GW550 Windows Mobile Smartphone


LG has announced a new business-oriented smartphone at CommunicAsia 2009. Dubbed as the GW550, the phone comes in a candybar form-factor and features front-facing QWERTY keyboard, that reminds me of the Nokia E71x. The LG GW550 also has a non-touch-sensitive 2.4-inch display with QVGA resolution, a 3MP camera, stereo speakers, HSDPA 7.2Mbps (HSUPA 2.0Mbps) connectivity and 1300mAh battery. Sadly, there is no word on pricing or availability at this time.

Philips C600 and W186 Cell Phones Unveiled


Philips will release a couple of new mobile phones in the form of the C600 and W186. The Philips C600 is a dual-mode handset that works on Tri-band GSM networks (900/1800/1900 MHz), and on CDMA 800 MHz. The phone also has two call keys, one for GSM and one for CDMA. Other features include a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, an MP3 player, a 1.3MP camera with video recording, a 2.5MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support (up to 2GB).

Meanwhile, the Philips W186 is made for China Unicom’s Wo brand. The handset features Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual-band UMTS (850/2100 MHz) connectivity, with HSDPA 3.6Mbps. Other specs include a 2-inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels, a 2MP camera with video recording, Bluetooth with A2DP, an FM radio, a 150MB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support (up to 8GB).
