Fit-PC2 - World’s Smallest PC gets Atom



Remember the fit-PC Slim, the world’s smallest PC that is powered by a 500MHz AMD processor and up to 512MB RAM. Recently, CompuLab introduces the fit-PC2 that gets Intel’s Atom processor.

The fit-PC2 is still tiny. It is boosted by either Atom Z530 1.6GHz or Z510 1.1GHz processor with Intel’s US15W SCH chipset and GMA500 integrated graphics. The fit-PC2 has 1GB RAM, a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive bay and a miniSD card slot. It offers a HDMI HD output port.

Fit-PC2 comes with Ethernet LAN port and built-in WiFi 802.11g connectivity. It has six USB ports. CompuLab will accpet orders in May 2009. Like the Fit-PC, the fit-PC2 will be available in several versions:

The notebook is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz CPU with an Intel GM45 Express chipset, a 4GB RAM, a 16-inch 1,366 x 768 resolution LCD display, a 320GB hard drive, a DVD Super Multi drive, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Toshiba Dynabook Satellite TXW/67JW retails for approx. $1,412 in Japan.

Brando’s Cockroach USB Flash Drives


Brando has recently released a fully functional 8GB flash drive that was encased in an urethane rubber of cockroach. The drive is compatible with Mac and Windows, and includes a protective cover for the USB connector. The Cockroach USB flash drive is priced at only $33 a pop.

Latest Windows Mobile Smartphone from AT&T


AT&T has rolled out the new Windows Mobile-powered smartphone for its customer. Known as the Samsung a167, the cell phone is categorized under the GoPhone family, allowing you to pay-as-you-go. The handset features dual-band GSM/GPRS connectivity (850/1900 MHz), a 128 x 160 internal CSTN display, web browser, a 2MB internal memory and a VGA camera. The phone is also cheap. You can purchase the AT&T Samsung a167 for only $69.99 each, without contract agreement.

Pentax Optio E75 10MP Digicam


If you plan to buy a new 10-megapixel digicam this week, then you can choose the Pentax Optio E75. The camera has a 3x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD display at 230k resolution, and an automatic scene modes. This new digicam comes with an ISO range of 80 to 1600, Face Detection, Face-priority and Automatic Smile Detection modes. The Pentax Optio E75 will be powered by two AA batteries and retails for €120 ($160) in Europe.

Extech MC108 Digital Mini Microscope

iRiver P.ple P7 is the company’s latest 4.3-inch touchscreen PMP for the Korean Market that comes with a magazine-style layout for a GUI. The device supports most of video file formats including AVI, WMV, MP4, RM/RMVB, DAT/MPG, 3GP/K3G, FLV and more. Other interesting features include an FM radio, a photo/text viewer, a voice recorder, a microSD card slot and up to 35 hours of music playback. The P.ple P7 is available in two different versions, either an 8GB or a 16GB version. The 8GB version sells for less than 200,00 KRW.

Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 8


Windows Internet Explorer 8 (abbreviated IE8) is the latest web browser developed by Microsoft in the long running Internet Explorer browser series. The browser was released on March 19, 2009 for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Both 32-bit and 64-bit builds are available. It is the successor to Internet Explorer 7, released in 2006, and is the default browser for the upcoming Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems.

According to Microsoft, security, ease of use, and improvements in RSS, Cascading Style Sheets, and Ajax support were its priorities for Internet Explorer 8.

Dell Releases New Eco-friendly LCD Monitors


Dell has recently launched three new eco-friendly monitors that have met EPEAT Gold and Energy Star standards. The 22-inch Dell P2210 provides 1,680 x 1,050 pixels with VGA, DVI-D with HDCP, DisplayPort, and four USB 2.0 ports, while the 19-inch Dell E190S has a 1,280 x 1,024 resolution with an 800:1 contrast ratio and a 250 cd/m2 brightness level. And finally, the 17-inch E170S comes with a 1,280 x 1,024 resolution and a VGA port. Dell is selling the P2210, E190S and E170S for $240, $130 and $110, respectively.

ASUS Eee Keyboard Set To Ship In June


Back in January we reviewed about ASUS’s upcoming Eee Keyboard, now according to Engadget, ASUS is planning on releasing the Eee Keyboard by the end of next month, however, pricing info is still unknown at the moment. As a reminder, this new keyboard is equipped with an Intel Atom N270 processor, a 5-inch touchscreen display with 800 x 480 resolution, a 32GB SSD, stereo speakers, a microphone, an HDMI output and WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity. More details will be revealed at the upcoming Computex conference in Taipei.

Solar-powered iUnika Netbooks


Spanish electronics company iUnika has recently rolled out four new netbooks including several solar powered models. These solar-powered models are perfect for those who like to use eco-friendly gadgets since they feature plastic cases made of biodegradable starch and cellulose. Weighing at only 700 grams (about 1.5 pounds), iUnika netbooks feature a 400MHz MIPS processor, a 7-inch (800 x 480) pixel LCD display and run on Linux operating system. You can buy these green netbooks for around $177 to $218 each.

Super Talent Upgrades UltraDrive Series SSDs


Super Talent has released a new firmware upgrade ‘Firmware Version 1370′ for their UltraDrive SSDs, which enables improved performance when used with Microsoft Windows 7. This new firmware increases the maximum read and write of both the UltraDrive ME and UltraDrive LE to 260 MB/sec while reading and 200 MB/sec (ME) and 210 MB/sec (LE) when writing. In addition, Super Talent has also released the UltraDrive Performance Refresh Tool, an app which can refresh SSD performance. The new firmware upgrade tool is now available at Super Talent official website.

Two BenQ C Series Camera Series


BenQ today unveiled two members of its popular C series digicam with the launch of the 10MP DC C1020 and the 12MP DC C1220. Both cameras feature a 3x optical zoom, Super-Shake-Free mode with high-ISO supported, Smile Catch mode and video recording with optical zoom at a resolution of 16:9 (720×400) with 30 frames per second. The C1020 has a 2.5-inch LCD (6.3 cm diagonal), meanwhile the C1220 features a bigger 2.7-inch LCD. Pricing info is still unknown.

Cube H200HD PMP with HDMI


Cube has just announced the successor to the Cube H100HD, the first PMP with a 1080i Video-out. However, there is no further info about the Cube H200HD PMP. Stay tuned for more updates.

OWC Express USB 2.0 Enclosure


OWC has rolled out its latest enclosure namely the Express USB 2.0. This pocket-sized, USB 2.0 bus powered enclosure can hold a 2.5-inch SATA I/II hard drive with up to 9.5mm height. It works with both Mac and Windows systems and supports USB 2.0 as well as USB 1.1. The OWC Express USB 2.0 Enclosure is available in three color options including white, black and silver for $19.99 each.

LG HB954TBW Blu-Ray Home Theater Combo With An iPod Dock


LG Korea has added a new Blu-Ray 5.1 Home Theater combo to their range with the introduction of the HB954TBW that comes equipped with an iPod dock. Unfortunately, there’s not much information given at the moment, but from what we heard this iPod dock will accept all iPod models allowing you to listen to any song within your devices. The HB954TBW will be sold in Korea for around 1,299,000 KRW ($1,038).

Yashica DVC575 HD Camcorder


The new Yashica DVC575 HD camcorder from Exemode is now available in the Japanese market. There is nothing special in this camcorder, since it only features a 5MP CMOS sensor with a 720/30p video recording capabilities, a 128MB of internal memory, a 3x Digital Zoom and a 2.5-inch LCD display. The Yashica DVC575 HD camcorder retails for 14800 Yen or around $154.

Muji Wall-mounted CD Player


The Muji Wall-mounted CD Player features speakers that are built into the body of the CD player. You just simply pull the cable to play a disk. Meanwhile, volume and search controls are located on the top of the CD player. Available in black or white, this easy-to-use CD player is available only in the States for $178 a piece.

UMID comes back with their new multimedia e-dictionaries in South Korea. Dubbed as the mbook M1D, the gadget is powered by a 1.1GHz Intel Atom processor with a 4.8-inch touchscreen display, Microsoft Windows XP OS, a 512MB RAM, a 16GB SSD, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and a microSD memory card slot. BTLS90, The “Desk-Less” Mouse From Filco


FILCO has rolled out its latest 2 in 1 mouse namely the BTLS90. This particular mouse is rather unique when compared to most mouses, it features a gyro sensor allowing you to use it either on a desk/table or in the ‘air’ just like a regular Wiimote. Novatel’s MiFi 2200 Portable EV-DO Router


Sprint has released the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 portable EV-DO router for use on its network. The battery-powered EV-DO router allows users to connect up to five WiFi-enabled devices to Sprint’s EV-DO Rev. A network, and it’ll be marketed in stores as the Sprint Mobile Hotspot. According to the carrier, this device will be the first in the US to support MiFi’s GPS capabilities, allowing users to take advantage of select location and mapping applications.

Borg Protege Displays


Borg Displays comes back with a couple of touchscreen panel PCs that were specially developed for home control, energy management, kiosks and digital signage purposes. The Protege 15 and Protege 8 are powered by either a 1GHz Via Eden or 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processor, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, a 512MB RAM, a 128MB Disk On Module (capable of hitting 4GB), a CompactFlash slot and an IDE connector. The larger 15-inch display has a 1,024 x 768 resolution, meanwhile the 8-inch model supports a 800 x 600 resolution.

Asus P6T7 WS SuperComputer Motherboard


Asus just announced its P6T7 WS SuperComputer motherboard that features seven PCI-E Gen2 x16 slots. The motherboard also holds the distinction of being certified for NVIDIA Tesla GPU computing, and can run up to three NVIDIA Tesla cards and one NVIDIA Quadro card simultaneously that produces 960 parallel processing cores. Other features include flexible high speed I/O, graphics and computing options. No word on pricing or availability.

Sharp’s Full HD LCD TV ‘AQUOS D Series’


Sharp is set to release four new energy-saving full HD LCD TVs ‘AQUOS D Series’ that are available in 32-inch, 40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch models. Some of the features the D Series offers include an advanced new image-improvement technology ‘high-quality master engine’ for increasing the video quality, an internet connection capability, a 15000:1 contrast ratio, a 1920 x 1080 resolution and much more. The 32-inch model is priced at 200,000 Yen, the 40-inch for 250,000 Yen, the 46-inch for 350,000 Yen and the 52-inch for 450,000 yen, all will be available in Japanese Market starting June 10.
